An air fare hike launched last week by Delta survived the weekend and will probably succeed, according to Rick Seaney, chief executive officer of FareCompare.
The increase of $2 to $4 each way was quickly matched by Southwest, initially on some of its routes and on all of them by Friday.
American has partially matched the hikes on routes where it overlaps with the other carriers.
