Wyndham Buys Minnesota-Based AmericaInn
by Jessica Montevago /Wyndham Hotel Group acquired Minnesota-based AmericInn brand, as it continues to invest in the midscale segment. Wyndham noted a growing global middle class that is expected to more than double in the next 10 years.
The $170 million deal, marking Wyndham’s 20th brand, also includes AmericInn’s management company, Three Rivers Hospitality. Wyndham said it will look at divesting the owned portfolio.
AmericInn has 200 hotels in 21 states, predominantly in Ohio, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan and North Dakota, so its addition will boost Wyndham’s footprint in the Midwest.
Wyndham also recently announced a new soft brand, Trademark Hotel Collection, consisting of independent upper-midscale-and-above hotels.
