Wyndham Rewards Offers Best Payback Among Leading Hotel Loyalty Programs

October 13, 2016

If your clients are wondering which hotel loyalty program offers the biggest bang for their buck, IdeaWorksCompany calculates it’s Wyndham Hotels.

During August 2016, IdeaWorksCompany conducted 1,305 reward queries for six key global frequent guest programs: Choice Privileges, Hilton HHonors, IHG Rewards, Marriott Rewards, Starwood SPG, and Wyndham Rewards, using a proprietary formula that looks at room rates and rewards points earned.

According to IdeaWorks’ second annual Switchfly Hotel Reward Payback Survey, the Wyndham Rewards program returns an average of 13.6% from room night spending. According to IdeaWorks, this means that a rewards member receives $13.60 for every $100 spent at a Wyndham hotel.

Marriott Rewards came in second at 9%, followed by Choice Hotels at 8.5%, Hilton at 7.7%, IHG at 7.4% and Starwood SPG at 5.6%. By comparison, IdeaWorksCompany earlier this year calculated that reward payback for major US airlines ranges from 3.1% to 7.9%.
