The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) will offer its members a new Verified Travel Advisor (VTA) Virtual Intensive program, which allow advisors to earn their VTA certifications through an expedited process.

Typically, ASTA offers the VTA program in a self-paced format. But from Dec. 7 to 11, 2026, the organization is offering a quick-hit version of the training. It will entail five hours of education spread across two days, followed by one 60-question exam to be completed on advisors’ own time.

In live sessions, participants will learn directly from Peter Lobasso, ASTA’s Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Certification and Policy Enforcement; and Elizabeth Allred, ASTA’s Corporate Counsel. Participating advisors will also get access to the course material prior to their sessions.

Advisors already enrolled in the traditional VTA program who have not yet completed it will be eligible to be transferred to the VTA Virtual Intensive program. Also, advisors using a VTA subsidy or discount through their host agency or consortium can participate in the VTA Virtual Intensive. In both cases, advisors can email askasta@asta.org for assistance.

Registration for ASTA’s new VTA Virtual Intensive program can be found here.
