Walter Biscardi had the kind of career that many working in the entertainment industry can only dream of. His work in the realm of unscripted film and television saw both critical and commercial success, he won Emmys, helped shape documentaries that he could be proud of, and one of his projects, the genre-disrupting hit TV series “Good Eats,” changed the food-television landscape forever.
But like many of us, Biscardi reached a crossroads in his life — and this journey led him to the exciting world of travel planning.
Today, Biscardi is a top-seller and a respected mentor in the travel advisor community. His travel agency, Where’s Walter Travel, recently won several awards at the 2026 KHM Crystal Conference, including top-seller in the highly competitive region of Florida. Given his calm confidence and impressive sales figures, it’s hard to believe he’s one of the growing class of new-to-the-industry travel advisors with under five years’ worth of industry experience.
Storytelling on the Small Screen
Before launching his own travel agency, Biscardi learned the ins and outs of running his own business. After studying film and television at Syracuse University, he took a job at CNN in Atlanta, then eventually formed his own creative agency focused on video production, post-production, and visual storytelling. After three years, he bought out his business partner, then went on to run Biscardi Creative Media for 20 years, eventually selling it in 2016.
Biscardi had a successful run in the world of media production. He worked on Alton Brown’s “Good Eats” for four years (even doing a bit of acting!), helped Food Network develop their HD workflow, and produced feature documentaries on President Carter. Over the years, he wore many hats, including creative director, writer, producer, and editor, and his hard work earned him industry recognition, including Emmys and Peabody awards.
After selling his company, Biscardi took corporate jobs in creative and marketing — but like many in that industry, he reached a point where opportunities seemed few and far between. But as they say, when one door closes, another opens — and for Biscardi, that other door happened to be on Scarlet Lady.
Turning Love of Travel into a Thriving Second Career

Although Biscardi clearly loved his former career, he has also been a long-time lover of travel. He told TMR that he’s been an avid cruiser for more than 20 years. This genuine passion for the industry inevitably drew him into travel sales — just not directly.
In 2021, when cruising was just returning post-pandemic, Biscardi began creating Where’s Walter social media content from his experiences traveling. It was during a sailing aboard Scarlet Lady, while he was capturing footage of the ship, that he crossed paths with a married couple, both of whom were travel advisors. This chance encounter set him on a totally new path he hadn’t considered before: starting his own independent travel agency.
Biscardi launched his travel business in October 2022, and by March, he already had over $400,000 in bookings. He eventually landed at host agency KHM, and has gone on to be top-performer. His first full year he sold $1.5 million, and then last year brought in $3.8 million in sales. At the most recent KHM conference, he was recognized in several categories, including top sales in Florida, at Virgin Voyages, and Oceania Cruises.
“I think I get more satisfaction out of what I do now than what I did in the past,” Biscardi told TMR. “I really enjoy seeing people happy.”
Live-Streaming, Smart Scaling & Human-First Strategy
Social media continues to be a key part of the overall strategy for Where’s Walter Travel. Biscardi has continued to build up an online following, and hosts regular live-streams where he answers questions from the audience about travel.
I truly and honestly believe it’s the live streams that have built the business — even beyond all my produced content,” said Biscardi. “I just want to help people take a better vacation. And those live streams are phenomenal because people can just ask anything they want.”
So far, Biscardi has managed to balance his business operations (including being a social media content creator) mainly as a two-person operation with his wife, Rebecca. Remarkable, considering he handles the bulk of sales, and last year, had over 730 bookings. Just over six months ago, he expanded his team by adding two associate advisors.
Already accustomed to managing multiple complicated projects at once thanks to his previous career, Biscardi adjusted to the demands of travel booking by developing effective workflows and relying on travel advisor tools.
“In my production company, we treated every client like a project… and that workflow translated perfectly over to what we do today,” he said.
Biscardi also credits the Tern platform, which he used as a CRM to help him scale up bookings: “Tern has been a huge help in allowing us to scale… because it gives us that structure and that consistency across everything that we’re doing.”
Being a travel advisor may not have been the career Biscardi planned on, but it has proven to be a satisfying and rewarding experience. He believes travel sales are an excellent opportunity for anyone who is willing to put in the hours and work hard, as he has — regardless of their age or background.
When asked what his core strategy is when it comes to travel sales, Biscardi said his philosophy is a human-first approach that prioritizes client satisfaction above all else.
“For that client, that’s the most important trip they’re taking… so you have to treat it that way,” he explained. “You do right by them… and then they start referring people … If we take care of our clients, the commission takes care of itself.”
