Princess Cruises Partners with The Travel Institute for TRIPKIT Tuition Assistance
by Dori Saltzman
Princess Cruises and The Travel Institute have teamed up to provide $100 in tuition assistance to the first 50 people to enroll in the Institute’s TRIPKIT training program during October. Designed for aspiring travel advisors and career changers, TRIPKIT provides foundational education and practical skills for entering the travel industry.
The tuition assistance is available only during The Travel Institute’s annual TRIP of a Lifetime event, which runs for the entire month of October. Sponsored by Princess Cruises, the $100 tuition assistance reduces regular TRIPKIT tuition from $499 to $399 for the first 50 enrollees in October.
The self-paced program provides essential training in travel industry terminology and operations, client communication, designing and selling travel experiences, destination knowledge, travel technology, business operations, and professional standards.
“Last year, more than 1,300 new students enrolled in TRIPKIT, demonstrating strong demand for foundational travel education,” said Taylor Ruecking, president of The Travel Institute. “TRIPKIT gives new advisors the fundamentals in how the travel industry operates and what it takes to be successful. We are grateful to Princess Cruises for supporting this training and helping aspiring advisors take the first step in building their careers.”
“Through our work with thousands of travel advisors, we know that education and training make a meaningful difference in building a successful career,” said Carmen Roig, senior vice president of sales and trade marketing for Princess Cruises. “Advisors who hit the ground running with a solid understanding of how the industry works are better prepared to build strong supplier relationships, serve their clients and succeed in selling. The Travel Institute’s TRIPKIT is industry-recognized for providing that foundation, and we are proud to invest in the next generation of travel advisors.”
TRIPKIT includes expert-written digital textbooks, insider sessions, a guided study plan, and preparation for the Travel Agent Proficiency (TAP) Test, an entry-level travel industry proficiency exam. Students have 12 months to complete the program, with most students spending approximately 40-60 hours completing the coursework.
Students who complete TRIPKIT with a score of 80% or higher can advance to The Travel Institute’s Certified Travel Associate (CTA) program.
The Travel Institute has provided education and professional development to the travel industry for more than 60 years. TRIPKIT is used by individuals, travel agencies, host agencies and educational institutions to provide foundational travel industry training.
