TMR Maestro Series Profile: Learn GDS Law with Rose Hache, Esq., CTIE

by Daine Taylor  October 08, 2020
TMR Maestro Series Profile: Learn GDS Law with Rose Hache, Esq., CTIE

Rose Haché

Rose Haché, Esq., CTIE, will share insight and knowledge during her legal seminar for GDS subscribers during COVID-19 and beyond, as one of the featured experts in Travel Market Report’s Maestro series.

Haché is the owner of the Law Office of Rose A. Haché, and author at The Travel Institute. She’s a widely recognized legal specialist focusing on travel management company issues, including corporate and high-end leisure.

She’s worked in the travel industry since 1978, first as an attorney for ASTA’s legal department. After meeting her husband, she moved to Texas in 1982 to start her own practice helping travel agency owners.

The defining factor that drew her to the travel industry was the people. “In my experience, people who work in the travel industry, tend to travel, so they can have that one-to-one experience with the population of the world,” said Haché.

“Their perspective is curious, and from my experience there’s no prejudice when they’ve truly experienced other cultures, and I find the population delightful.”

During her upcoming Maestro session, she will be offering comprehensive advice on understanding, navigating, and negotiating GDS contracts and resources.

“I hope to convey just how important it is to understand the GDS contracts are tools that are enforceable, and the more you understand the GDS company’s perspective and maintain a positive attitude in terms of negotiation, and the more educated you are on the legal tools available, the better your outcome and reduced financial anxiety.”

“I work in many other areas related to owning and managing a travel company, but the reason I chose the topic related to GDS contracts is that I believe it’s something people need to know about, especially now,” said Haché.

“It’s important to know that people have legal tools and abilities to address these concerns, so never think that you have no options, because you always do.”

She emphasized the importance of advisors staying positive, actively learning, especially during this period of uncertainty for the industry at large. She also said it’s important to utilize the existing resources and infrastructure of ASTA and the various travel consortia to aid and educate advisors on whatever they need.

“I think it’s very important to remain optimistic and trust in the best outcome and move towards it…Think about what your goal is, and take steps to achieve it, then you’ll get there,” said Haché.

“I’m doing this with love in my heart for people in the industry. I know being down 95% of your business is horrible, and I know that it’s temporary and this is all going to pass eventually, hopefully sometime in 2021, but I think it’s important to hold each other’s hands through this and reassure everyone that this will be over some day. [Advisors] just need to hang on and use this time to educate themselves and prepare to be where they want to be when this is over.”
