Carnival Cruise Line Intros Vegan Dining Room Menu
by Dori Saltzman /Carnival Cruise Line is the latest cruise company to makes its culinary offerings more inclusive with a larger selection of vegan menu items now available in its main dining rooms onboard Carnival Freedom and Carnival Horizon. The menu will be implemented fleetwide in a phased approach through the end of the year.
At each meal in the ship’s dining rooms, the new vegan menus will offer a selection of appetizers, entrees, and desserts.
“Plant-based food options are a rising preference on our ships just as they are on land, and so the new dishes we’re introducing are a direct response to that shift,” said Richard Morse, senior vice president of food and beverage at Carnival Cruise Line.
He added that building the vegan offerings into a separate menu “will help to make ordering easier in the dining room and preparation more efficient in the galley.”
Among the new vegan menu items are:
Appetizers
* Hawaiian salmon poke
* Stuffed mushrooms
* Spaghetti carbonara
Entrees
* Grilled tofu steak
* Baked vegetable au gratin
* Eggplant Parmigiana
Desserts
* Key lime velvet cake
* Dutch double chocolate pave
* Cappuccino pot de crème
