Disney Cruise Line Drops Negative Test Requirement
by Daniel McCarthy /Starting on November 14, 2022, Disney Cruise Line will no longer require its guests to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test before sailing, regardless of vaccination status.
Disney, in a message to its travel advisor partners on Wednesday, said it would continue to recommend that all guests be fully vaccinated and that those who are not fully vaccinated take a COVID-19 test two days prior to sailing, but it will no longer be compulsory to sail.
“Beginning November 14, 2022, for sailings departing from the United States, Disney Cruise Line will no longer require Guests (regardless of vaccination status) to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test prior to sailing. Disney Cruise Line continues to highly recommend that all Guests be fully vaccinated and encourages unvaccinated Guests to take a COVID-19 test two days prior to sailing,” Disney said in a message to guests.
Because of the change, Disney is allowing those booked on sailings departing from the U.S. starting on Nov. 14 through the end of 2023 to modify or cancel their sailing without any Disney-imposed cancellation fees as long as the cancellation or modification request is received prior to Nov. 14.
Disney had dropped the testing requirement for fully vaccinated guests at the end of August and had dropped the vaccination requirement for guests under 12 earlier that month. Now, aside from the recommendations, Disney’s sailing protocols are essentially returned to a pre-COVID normal.
Disney is one of a few major cruise lines that have announced changes to testing requirements this week. The others include Seabourn and Holland America Line.
