Playa Hotels and Resorts is keeping some of its properties, which were impacted by last week’s Hurricane Fiona, closed post-storm.

According to a statement, “there was no structural damage at any of the company’s resorts in the Dominican Republic, however, some properties still need “necessary clean up and repair” after Fiona’s arrival. That includes the Hyatt Ziva & Zilara Cap Cana and the Hilton La Romana, both of which are expected to remain closed to guests until the fourth quarter of 2022.

The Dreams Palm Beach and Dreams Punta Cana, on the other hand, are both open and operational.

Hurricane Fiona, the first major storm of the 2022 season, hit the Dominican Republic last Monday. It caused widespread power outages on the island and caused flooding in some areas of the country.

Last week, President Luis Abinader declared three eastern provinces of the Dominican Republic to be disaster zones.
