Travel Advisors Save the Day … But Travel Protection Can Save the Trip

Travel Advisors Save the Day … But Travel Protection Can Save the Trip

If there’s one thing we’ve learned from the past several years is that when it comes to travel, it’s safest to expect the unexpected at every leg of the journey. Emergencies can happen at any point even beyond the time of scheduled departure, and the last thing travelers need to—or can reasonably—deal with while a crisis is going on is worrying about their travel plans and coverage. That added stress is exactly that: added stress. Because when vacationers Plan with a Pro, like ALG Vacations®-affiliated travel advisors, the solution is right there, even before a problem has a chance to arise.

Travel Protection Plus with Cancel for Any Reason is the most robust and encompassing way to protect any vacationer’s investment, with the best pre-departure benefits in the entire travel industry and up to seven days of booking and deposit to add it on.

Available exclusively through ALGV brands (Apple Vacations, Travel Impressions, Funjet Vacations, United Vacations, and Blue Sky Tours), the headliner is right in the name: the freedom to cancel for literally any reason up until two hours before scheduled departure. Caught a cold a few days out? Cancel for credit or a cash refund, depending on which option on the sliding scale they chose. Babysitter backed out? Tell them to go ahead and reschedule. Hangnail on the way to the airport? If that’ll ruin the trip, they can go ahead and cancel.

Best of all? The travel advisor doesn’t get penalized for what their clients do. ALGV is a family of brands that has always prioritized partnership, so their travel protection plan actually protects commissions as well.

Other pre-departure benefits include a Price Guarantee, which helps travelers feel more confident about going ahead with their booking. Valid for trips to Mexico, the Caribbean, Hawaii, Europe, and destinations in Central America, if the price of the selected hotel or Exclusive Nonstop Vacation Flight goes down, so does the package price for those customers when they call in to claim it while the lower price is still available.

Then there’s the Hurricane Travel Credit, which is handy to have in anyone’s back pocket when they’re looking to travel between June and November. Any unused or interrupted nights in susceptible destinations will be refunded and an additional future discount credit will be awarded.

… Which brings us to during-travel coverage, which is also above-par competitive with ALGV’s Travel Protection Plus supplement.

TPP’s medical expense allowance is also one of the industry’s most generous, with a $50,000 reimbursement cap that includes costs incurred for travel accidents or emergency evacuation, if necessary. This is incredibly important to emphasize to travelers, since many are not aware that just because they have medical coverage at home doesn’t necessarily mean it extends abroad. Accidental death and dismemberment, crisis companionship coverage, and more are also part of this benefit.

For less alarming situations, such as minor illness that leads to trip interruption or travel delays of over six hours due to airlines, quarantines, or other hazards, vacationers can also count on TPP. They’ll be reimbursed for unused hotel nights, flight change fees, and fare differences up to the total cost of the trip if a traveler gets sick while away, and up to $3,000 back for meals, accommodations, and transportation for the aforementioned delays. And if it’s just a missed connection causing one to miss a cruise or tour departure, up to $500 may be reimbursed.

What about luggage, though? Almost as bad as up a creek without a paddle is far from home without your clothes. Those who include TPP in their booking are covered for up to $300 to purchase necessities if their baggage is delayed by eight or more hours, damaged, lost, or stolen.

All that said, a vacation is too valuable to waste. With Travel Protection Plus, travelers can rest assured that theirs is safe no matter what surprises life throws their way.
