Intrepid Launches Monthly Subscription for Travelers Who Want to Offset Carbon Footprint

Intrepid Launches Monthly Subscription for Travelers Who Want to Offset Carbon Footprint

Small tour group operator Intrepid is partnering with Offset Earth to launch a subscription service that will allow travelers to offset their carbon footprint with plans starting at $6.50 a month.

The service is “an actionable way to be part of the climate crisis solution,” Intrepid said in a release. The money goes to climate projects all over the world. It also goes toward trees planted in Kenya’s Kijaebe Forest, an area that Intrepid serves with some of its 2020 Kenya itineraries.

For Intrepid, which became a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact framework in 2008 and is one of the first carbon positive travel companies in the world, it’s another in its moves to help combat the impact of climate change.

“The effects of climate change are undeniable. Now in 2020, with bushfires currently ravaging Australia, where our company is headquartered, we are witnessing a physical manifestation of the climate crisis and a brutal reminder of the urgency of the situation. For less than the cost of a Netflix subscription, you can commit to a subscription service that helps the planet,” Intrepid CEO James Thornton said.

Intrepid is matching each tree planted through the subscription service with one of its one—doubling the campaign’s impact.
