American Airlines has resumed flights across the U.S. after being forced to ground its fleet due to technical issues early this morning.
As reported by Reuters, American Airlines has not issued a statement regarding the technical issue.
The grounding only lasted approximately 1.5 hours but occurred at the start of the busiest travel season of the year. According to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the number of passengers traveling on Dec. 22, 2024, was up 43% from the same day in 2023. A similar increase is expected for people flying today.
So far, FlightAware.com is showing few to no significant delays as a result of the grounding.
In a statement sent to TMR, the Federal Aviation Administration said: “American Airlines reported a technical issue this morning and requested a nationwide ground stop. The ground stop has now been lifted.”
