WestJet Expands Sabre Deal to Include NDC Content

Sabre says conversational commerce will drive travel decision making.

Sabre Corporation and WestJet are expanding their distribution deal to include future New Distribution Capability (NDC) content.

Sabre is a Texas-based software and technology company that provides solutions for the travel industry, connecting suppliers and buyers around the world.

Under the new multi-year agreement, Sabre-connected agencies will have access to the Canadian airline’s content, including upcoming NDC offers.

Last month, WestJet signed a deal with Accelya for NDC support on the FLX platform. This technology can generate more than 350,000 personalized offers per second.

Once NDC is implemented, travel advisors will be able to shop, book, and service WestJet NDC offers and EDIFACT content through Sabre’s Offer and Order APIs, the agency point-of-sale solution, Sabre Red 360, and the corporate booking tool, GetThere.

“We are pleased to have reached a multi-year agreement with Sabre to expand our long-standing distribution partnership to cover not only EDIFACT but also NDC content once the technical connectivity has been implemented,” said John Weatherill, chief commercial officer, WestJet. “We rely on a trusted partner like Sabre to service a broad customer base through real-time connectivity to agency and corporate subscribers via the Sabre GDS.”
