Effective Jan. 2, Air India is no longer distributing content through Sabre, Sabre announced in an email to its subscribers on Thursday.
“Our goal has been – and will continue to be – to provide the broadest content available to agencies, airlines and travelers alike. We strongly believe distribution through Sabre’s network of global travel agencies will provide great value to Air India. Accordingly, we will continue in our efforts to obtain the Air India content for the Sabre systems,” Sabre wrote in the message announcing the news.
Air India, the country’s national carrier, is currently struggling financially and faces an uncertain future as it remains up for sale. According to the Economic Times of India, Etihad, along IndiGo, could be poised to make a play to save Air India though neither have reportedly made a bid as of yet.
