Data Breach Hits 20 Hotels
Hotel operator HEI Hotels & Resorts said Monday it recently discovered a data breach at several of its properties across the country.
Malware was found in the point-of-sale terminals at 20 HEI hotels across 10 states and the District of Columbia, representing brands like Hyatt, Marriott, Sheraton and Westin, from early December to June. However, some properties were hit as early as March of last year.
Data collected from the malware included names, payment card account numbers, card expiration dates and verification codes. HEI said it’s working with law enforcement during the investigation and coordinating with banks and payment card companies.
