InterContinental Hotel Group—parent company of Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Kimpton Hotels and Crowne Plaza brands—said last week it is investigating claims of a possible security breach at several U.S. hotels.
The company has hired a computer security firm to investigate patterns of possible credit and debit card fraud after unauthorized charges were found on some customers’ cards. IHG did not disclose which properties were affected, only “a small number of U.S.-based hotel locations.”
IHG recommended individuals monitor their payment card account statements and notify their bank of any unauthorised charges.
In the past year many chains, including Trump Hotels, Hilton Mandarin Oriental and White Lodge, were hit with credit-card breaches.
