Hilton Commits to Installing Up to 20,000 Tesla EV Chargers at 2,000 Hotels
by Briana Bonfiglio /Hilton has announced an agreement with Tesla to install up to 20,000 Tesla Universal Wall Connectors to charge electric vehicles at 2,000 hotels starting in early 2024.
The company will add at least six EV chargers per hotel in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Hilton’s plans will make its network of EV charging stations the largest in the hospitality industry.
“Through this expanded agreement with Tesla, we are significantly changing the landscape of universal EV chargers in North America in an incredibly short amount of time,” said Matt Schuyler, Hilton’s chief brand officer. “Across Hilton’s family of award-winning brands, this network of EV chargers will offer our guests even more value with the convenience of much-needed overnight charging access in more locations.”
Hilton has many roadside properties across North America, properly positioning the hotel brand to meet a growing demand for overnight EV charging stations. Hilton reports that on its website, electric vehicle charging is the fastest-growing search attribute to date and jumped from fourth to second highest in converting customers’ searches to stays.
“Installing infrastructure at popular destinations, like Hilton hotels, enables EV owners to charge where they park, meaning no unnecessary refueling stops along their journey,” said Rebecca Tinucci, Tesla’s senior director of charging infrastructure. “We applaud Hilton for their leadership in the space and look forward to continuing to ramp this critical program with other industry leaders.”
Hilton currently has more than 1,850 hotels globally with EV charging access.
