With Maui warmly welcoming visitors back to the island, there’s no better time to brush up on the best hotels and resorts in the destination.

During a recent ALG Vacations FAM trip to Maui, a few dozen travel advisors experienced the hospitality, culture, and aloha that some of the best oceanfront hotels on the beach walk and beyond have to offer. But with so many accommodation options to choose from, it can be tricky to know which is truly best for your client.

To make it easier, we rounded up the key highlights of Maui hotels we visited, so you can pair the right client with the right property.

This 10-acre property, part of Aqua-Aston Hospitality, is fully condo-style, making it great for families. Having a full kitchen in the room allows for some cost savings so families can cook their own meals. The spacious one- to two-bedroom suites, which fit four to six people, have other comforts of home, including a washer/dryer and private lanai.

The resort features two resort style pools, jet spas, shuffleboard, tennis and pickleball courts and barbecue grills, and offers cultural programming from lei making and Hawaiian weaving to hula and ukulele lessons.

Fairmont Kea Lani

Fairmont Kea Lani is Hawaii’s only all-suite and villa oceanfront resort, and the entire property is fresh off a multi-million-dollar renovation. Its two- and three-bedroom villas feature full living rooms, plunge pools, barbecues, and binoculars for whale watching season.

The resort’s lobby cultural center, Hale Kukuna, became the largest Hawaiian cultural center within any resort in Hawaii when it opened in 2023. The property is dedicated to protecting the environment through many green initiatives, including a partnership with Treecovery Hawaii, an organization aiding in reforestation of Lahaina post-wildfires.

Grand Wailea Maui, A Waldorf Astoria Resort

A recent $350 million, property-wide renovation has strengthened Grand Wailea Maui, A Waldorf Astoria Resort’s position as a leader in upscale accommodations on Maui. The 40 acres of tropical gardens are now home to five reimagined restaurants, the central Botero Lounge, and fully redesigned 794 guestrooms, including 57 suites.

Notably, the resort now has a brand-new spa and Maui’s only Nobu restaurant. The Kiolani Spa offers treatments based around the Hawaiian moon calendar. In addition, the hotel has a new wellness room category that includes two daily passes to its hydrotherapy gardens. Grand Wailea is also perfect for weddings, with its on-site chapel and bridal suite within the spa. Other highlights include the kids club, regular luaus, local fruits grown on site, and the largest private art collection in the state of Hawaii, with art tours available for guests.

Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa

Families will find plenty to do and see while staying at Hyatt Regency Maui, from plunging down its 150-foot waterslide by day and stargazing at night. The resort’s open-air lobby is spacious and overlooks the ocean – but more interestingly, has live parrots and penguins that live on site. Also, the resort’s Dreams of the Pacific Luau is one of the longest running luaus on Maui.

A perfect family day at Hyatt Regency Maui might look like this: Kids and their parents gather for the daily penguin show at 9 a.m., then gander at the African gray parrots as they walk toward one of the two pools – either the main pool or family-friendly pool with splash pads. Then, they enjoy breakfast and lunch by the pool while also engaging in water sports and cultural activities. In the evening, dinner at Japengo restaurant followed by the property’s “Tour of the Stars” from the rooftop, hosted by

OUTRIGGER Ka’anapali Beach Resort

Sharing Hawaiian culture is acutely important at OUTRIGGER Ka’anapali Beach Resort, whose Kawenaokeao Cultural Center is well-staffed with passionate practitioners who teach a stacked schedule of classes: lei making, hula, ocean navigating, stamping art, Hawaiian language, and more.

The resort has a range of rooms that have all been recently renovated in either 2021 or 2025. One thing to note: This property will be going through a transformation of its pool area over the next few years. Construction has not yet begun, though, and exact dates for the renovation are to be determined.

The Westin Maui Resort & Spa

One of the best restaurants on Maui, Ulu Kitchen by Merriman, is found at The Westin Maui, where you can’t leave without trying the mai tais and mahi-mahi. It serves fresh, homegrown cuisine and is a sister restaurant to Chef Peter Merriman’s Monkeypod, which is wildly popular on the island.

The resort is great for families with teenagers, featuring Valley Alley, Maui’s largest arcade with more than 50 games, two Topgolf suites, and six different pools, including an infinity pool and one with a waterslide, all overlooking the ocean. There is also a full events calendar to keep families busy, as well as the property’s Wailele Luau.

Wailea Beach Resort – Marriott, Maui

As opposed to most properties on this list that are located along Maui’s western corridor, Marriott’s Wailea Beach Resort is in south Maui, placing the resort closer to popular off-property excursions such as Haleakala National Park, where many go to see sunrise and sunset, and Maui Chocolate Coffee Tours.

Aside from its proximity to attractions, Wailea Beach Resort is itself a wonder to behold. It is the closest hotel to the coastline in all of Maui, making for its own spectacular sunrises and sunsets and for whale watching from December to May. Renovations were just completed earlier this year on a new massage pool, infinity pool, and special Sundeck Collection suite category.
