Princess Cruises has pulled back the curtain on the dining program that will be available onboard Sun Princess when it launches in February 2024. The ship will feature a mix of Princess favorites, along with new concepts including a Japanese Teppanyaki restaurant and seafood venue helmed by award-winning chef Rudi Sodamin. In total, the ship will offer cruisers a selection of 29 dining and lounge options.

“Outstanding food and drink at exceptional value are a cornerstone of the Princess experience,” said John Padgett, Princess Cruises’ president. “Sun Princess elevates the entire portfolio of offers and wraps them in restaurants, bars, and sundecks that reveal stunning views, ocean vistas and sunshine, ice, and wildlife.”

New to Princess
Among the new dining venues will by Umai Teppanyaki. Located on deck 8, the restaurant will offer the usual Teppanyaki “dinner and a show.” The three-course meal includes a selection of starters and entrees, plus a chocolate bento box dessert with green tea ice cream.

Also new is The Catch by Rudi, located on deck 9, a pop-up dinner concept from chef Rudi Sodamin that showcases seafood items such as oysters on the half shell, calamari with seasoned panko coating, and mussels Provençale.

The outdoor Promenade on deck 9 is another new concept serving up slices of Promenade Slice pizza, gourmet burgers, hot dogs, freshly baked bagels, and ice cream.

Not quite brand new is O’Malley’s Irish Pub, located on deck 7. Also found on Enchanted Princess, O’Malley’s offers a pub menu, along with live music and interactive entertainment. Open for lunch, dinner, and late-night fare.

Exclusive main dining rooms
In addition to the Horizons Dining Room, Sun Princess will have two exclusive restaurants for suite and mini-suite guests. The Signature Restaurant will be for suite guests, while the Reserve Collection Restaurant will be for those staying in mini-suite and cabana cabins. Both dining rooms will offer exclusive menu options, including a prime rib carving trolley.

Returning favorites
Cruisers will find several Princess staples onboard including Crown Grill, Sabatini’s, and Alfredo’s Pizzeria, along with Crooners and the Wheelhouse Bar. Sun Princess will also have a Kai Sushi. Returning casual options will include the World Fresh Marketplace – now located on deck 9, an International Cafe, and the Lido on deck 17.

Currently under construction at Italy’s Fincantieri shipyard, the 4,300-passenger Sun Princess will be the largest ship in the Princess fleet and the first to feature a theater in the round, a three-story main dining room, and the multi-deck family-friendly Park19 activity zone.
