Princess Cruises Postpones Delivery of Star Princess
by Dori Saltzman /Princess Cruises’ next new ship, Star Princess, will be arriving later than anticipated. The cruise line, along with shipbuilder Fincantieri, announced the delivery date for the ship has been pushed back from July 2025 to the end of September of the same year. As a result, nine sailings have been cancelled.
“Despite our collective dedication and relentless pursuit to deliver the ship in late July, it has become evident that additional time is required to ensure that Star Princess is delivered to the highest standards expected by our guests,” said John Padgett, president of Princess Cruises.
The new inaugural sailing of Star Princess will depart Oct. 4, 2025 from Barcelona for an 11-day Mediterranean voyage. This will be followed by a seven-day Mediterranean cruise, after which the ship will makes its way to Fort Lauderdale – via a 14-day transatlantic crossing – for its first Caribbean season.
All three new cruises will open for sale on April 30, 2024.
Guests who were booked on any of the nine impacted sailings are being given several options, including the choice to book any Princess cruise worldwide and receive future cruise- and onboard-credits depending on the cruise they select. Guests can also elect to cancel and receive a full refund of the cruise fare.
Princess is protecting travel advisor commissions on all bookings that have been paid in full.
