Sun Princess to Feature The Magic Castle Multi-Sensory Experience
by Dori Saltzman /When Sun Princess launches in February 2024 it will feature Spellbound by Magic Castle, a multi-room experience created in collaboration with The Magic Castle that blends the world of magic with mixology and a Victorian period atmosphere.
“We are excited to introduce Spellbound by Magic Castle and take the art of magic around the world aboard the spectacular new Sun Princess,” said John Padgett, president of Princess Cruises. “This collaboration with The Magic Castle takes entertainment into new dimensions…”
Spellbound will be hidden behind a non-descript door on the ship. Inside, ornate décor across the three spaces will include magical artifacts, vintage curiosities, and special effects, while magicians will show off their skills and sleight-of-hand servers will find unusual ways to deliver themed cocktails.
Rooms include the Music Room, where guests will meet the spirit of Isabella who will share her stories of sailing on Sun Princes; the Parlor Bar, featuring Artemis the owl who is revealed through interaction with skilled illusionists; and the 30-seat Spellbound Theater, designed to show off close-up magic.
“We are bringing some of the most authentic aspects of The Magic Castle in Hollywood to Sun Princess, complete with incredible magicians and illusionists, so that Princess guests can experience a taste of the world class magic that is showcased nightly at The Magic Castle,” said Erika Larsen, president of Magic Castle Enterprises.
The Magic Castle is an exclusive members-only club and magic academy that dates back to the 60s. Famous members have included David Blaine, Penn & Teller, Johnny Carson, Jason Alexander, and Neil Patrick Harris.
This is not the first time The Magic Castle has taken to the high seas. In 2012, the company partnered with Crystal Cruises for “Magic Castle at Sea.”
Spellbound will be an extra-fee experience, with details about pricing to be revealed at a later time.
