Air Transat Launches Non-Stop Toronto to Tirana; Expands Routes From YYZ – YQB for 2026
by Marsha Mowers
Air Transat has announced a new non-stop Toronto–Tirana (Albania) service as part of its expanded Summer 2026 program.
Launching June 18, 2026, the route will operate once weekly using an Airbus A330, making Air Transat the first airline to offer direct service between North America and Albania—opening up a fast-growing destination for Canadian travellers.
“Albania is quickly emerging as a must-visit destination in Europe, and we’re proud to be the first carrier to connect it directly with North America,” said Sebastian Ponce, Chief Revenue Officer at Transat. “With nine new routes, the extension of several seasonal services to year-round operations, and increased frequencies on key routes, our Summer 2026 program is the largest we’ve ever offered. This strategy allows us to better utilize our fleet, support sustainable growth, and give travellers more choice and flexibility.”
Beyond Tirana, Air Transat’s Summer 2026 program features:
- New route launches
- The conversion of select seasonal routes to year-round service
- Increased frequencies on core European routes
Together, these enhancements strengthen the airline’s leisure-focused network while creating more options for travel advisors and their clients.
Air Transat is also building on its momentum at Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) with the launch of a new non-stop Québec City–Nantes (NTE) service for Summer 2026. The route will operate once weekly on Tuesdays, from June 2 to October 20, 2026, using an Airbus A321LR.
This new service is part of a broader expansion from Québec City, which also includes:
- An additional frequency to Paris (CDG), reaching up to six weekly flights during peak season
- The launch of a new Québec City–Marseille (MRS) route in Summer 2026
- The transition of Québec City–Fort-de-France (FDF) to year-round service, following its inaugural flight on December 14
“Québec has always been central to Air Transat’s identity,” added Ponce. “These additions reflect our long-term commitment to the region and our focus on investing where demand is strong. As a homegrown airline, we’re proud to grow alongside Québec travellers and the communities we serve.”
