American Airlines is adding another route to the Caribbean with a new flight from Miami (MIA) to South Bimini (BIM) starting next year.
The airline will fly the route beginning Feb. 14, 2026, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. It will be operated by American Eagle via Envoy Air on an Embraer E175 aircraft, featuring a 12-seat business class cabin.
The 64-mile trip marks not only American’s shortest international flight but also its shortest overall flight, beating its Chicago O’Hare (ORD) to Milwaukee (MKE) route by two miles.
Travel advisors might recognize Bimini, which is known as “The Gateway to The Bahamas,” more for its place as a cruise destination. Virgin Voyages features The Beach Club at Bimini as a central part of its Caribbean sailings. The island is also home to Resorts World Bimini, a higher-end casino property.
While other U.S. carriers fly into Bimini from Florida, the new American route is the first from Miami. Prior to this, those wanting to go directly from Miami to Bimini could take a ferry, a roughly two-hour ride.
