Expanded Airlift Drives Major Surge of Canadians to Saint Lucia

Saint Lucia.
The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority is reporting continued growth in visitor arrivals, with April 2026 recording the highest April stay-over arrivals on record. Canadians played a key role in the growth, with visitor numbers up 45.9% for the month.
A total of 40,752 stay-over visitors arrived on the island during April. Canadian growth was described as “remarkable,” with more than 1,200 additional visitors year-over-year.
Much of that gain is driven by increased airlift – WestJet increased its April flight frequency to twice weekly. And there’s more to come, with Air Canada upgrading its service this month, increasing seat capacity.

“What is particularly encouraging is that Saint Lucia’s growth is becoming more balanced and experience driven,” said Honourable Dr. Ernest Hilaire- Minister for Tourism, Commerce, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Heritage.
“We are seeing stronger regional travel, increased Canadian demand, higher visitor participation within the cruise sector, and global digital exposure that continues to elevate the destination in new and exciting ways that inspire people to engage more deeply with the island, its culture, and its people.”
Island tourism officals credit strategic marketing, improved airlift, trade engagement, and sustained media exposure with driving increased demand and stronger performance during the period.
The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority remains optimistic about continued growth in 2026 as it strengthens partnerships, expands global reach, and enhances the visitor experience.
With the “What Kind of Summer Are You?” campaign already underway, Saint Lucia says it is set for a vibrant season featuring Lucian Carnival, Mercury Fest, major sporting events, including the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and Creole Heritage Month.
