The Gate Gourmet strike at Toronto Pearson International Airport will soon be over.

Teamsters Local Union 647 has reached a deal with the in-flight caterer Gate Gourmet. Yesterday, members voted to ratify the new agreement.

The union represents more than 800 workers who walked off the job on April 16..

The catering strike has been disrupting food service for flights out Toronto Pearson International Airport for the last two weeks. The strike mainly impacted food and beverage options on Air Canada flights, causing some flight delays.

“After months of bargaining and almost two weeks on the picket line, we are pleased to announce a tentative agreement with Gate Gourmet. I would like to thank our members for their incredible courage and solidarity, and salute everyone who supported us throughout this process,” Martin Cerqua, president of Teamsters Local Union 647, said in a written statement.

An unnamed spokesperson told TMR: “Gate Gourmet Canada is pleased to announce that our employees have ratified the tentative deal reached with the Union. We look forward to returning to regular operations at Pearson Airport as soon as possible with our valued employees.”
