On a summer night in Toronto, members of the media were invited to a “secret” event on the 17th floor of the Park Hyatt. There were certainly a few clues suggesting the announcement would involve Air Canada, which had flown in journalists from across the country, as well as Hyatt, since the reveal was set to take place at the iconic hotel acquired by the brand in 1999.
The news broke: Air Canada’s Aeroplan and World of Hyatt announced a new partnership that will give members more ways to earn and redeem points throughout their travels.
The partnership expands member benefits across a combined network of more than 1,300 destinations and 1,500 hotels. Whether flying with Air Canada or staying at participating Hyatt hotels and resorts, members will enjoy greater flexibility along with new opportunities to earn and redeem points throughout their journey.
“This partnership makes perfect sense. People travel with Air Canada and then stay at Hyatt hotels. So why not bring together two industry leaders to create an even stronger loyalty program?” said Scott O’Leary, President of Aeroplan.
Aeroplan members can now redeem Aeroplan points for free World of Hyatt award nights at eligible Hyatt hotels and resorts, including Category 1–4 and Category 1–7 properties, starting at 25,000 Aeroplan points. World of Hyatt members can now redeem World of Hyatt points for an Aeroplan flight reward certificate worth 30,000 Aeroplan points, which can be used toward flight rewards with Air Canada and its airline partners. Together, these new redemption options provide members with greater flexibility in how they use their points and more choices for every trip.
Under the new agreement, members will earn points simultaneously in both loyalty programs, eliminating the need to choose between them.

Partnership Benefits
Aeroplan and World of Hyatt members can now earn points faster and enjoy exclusive benefits across both loyalty programs.
Aeroplan members can now earn Aeroplan points on eligible stays at participating Hyatt hotels and resorts. Members of both programs also have the option to earn 500 Aeroplan points per stay instead of World of Hyatt points.
By linking their accounts, Canadian-issued Aeroplan credit cardholders can earn bonus World of Hyatt points as well as additional Aeroplan points on eligible stays at participating Hyatt hotels and resorts:
- Aeroplan Premium credit cardholders earn 2 bonus World of Hyatt points and 2 Aeroplan points for every eligible Canadian dollar spent at participating Hyatt hotels and resorts.
- Aeroplan Premium Business credit cardholders earn 2 bonus World of Hyatt points and 2.5 Aeroplan points for every eligible Canadian dollar spent.
- Aeroplan Core Business credit cardholders earn 1 bonus World of Hyatt point and 2 Aeroplan points for every eligible Canadian dollar spent.
- Aeroplan Core credit cardholders earn 1 bonus World of Hyatt point and 1.5 Aeroplan points for every eligible Canadian dollar spent.
Members can convert World of Hyatt points into Aeroplan points at a rate of 2:1, starting with a minimum of 5,000 points. Additional conversions can then be made in increments of 1,000 points.
Linked Aeroplan Elite Status members also have exclusive access to convert Aeroplan points into bonus World of Hyatt points at a 2:1 ratio, with a minimum conversion of 500 Aeroplan points, up to 100,000 Aeroplan points per day and 250,000 points per week.
