Air Canada Extends Dubai Suspension Until At Least March 2027

Air Canada has extended the suspension of its daily service between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Dubai International Airport (DXB) through at least late March 2027. The decision leaves the airline with zero active non-stops in the Middle East.

The route, operated on a 298-passenger Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, was initially launched in 2023 to capture surging business and premium leisure demand between North America and the United Arab Emirates. However, continued geopolitical volatility and ongoing safety reviews across Middle Eastern airspace forced Air Canada to repeatedly push back its planned restart.

While Air Canada’s seasonal Vancouver–Dubai route was previously dropped, and its Qatar service to Doha (DOH) was ended in 2023, it is still targeting late November to resume its Toronto–Tel Aviv (TLV) service.

Air Canada’s long-term pause reflects a growing pattern among North American and European airlines, which are increasingly choosing extended route pauses over incremental, month-to-month delays.

Both American Airlines and United Airlines have both pushed back their restart dates for select Gulf operations into early 2027. European network carriers have taken comparable measures; Dutch carrier KLM has repeatedly deferred its Middle East restorations, while British Airways fully pulled its London Heathrow–Abu Dhabi route from its schedule.
