WestJet has announced seasonal service between Calgary and Puerto Escondido, Mexico, marking the airline’s first-ever flights to the laid-back Pacific surf haven in Oaxaca.
Starting December 12, 2025, the route will operate once weekly throughout the winter season, giving Canadian travellers easy access to this emerging beach destination known for its boho vibes, surf culture, and stunning coastline.
The new route is part of its largest-ever Mexico schedule this winter, which sees overall sun destination capacity grow by 8% over last year.
“Delivering this hidden gem to WestJet’s network is another way we’re fulfilling our promise to give Canadians more unforgettable and affordable getaways,” said John Weatherill, WestJet Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer.
“For those looking to trade snow for sunshine, Puerto Escondido offers the perfect escape; a vibrant blend of beautiful beaches, authentic Mexican flavours, world-class surfing and the warm, festive spirit that makes Mexico so special.”

“Over the past three years, we have worked tirelessly with WestJet through numerous meetings and presentations to showcase Puerto Escondido as the extraordinary destination it is,” said Javier Garcia Bejos, CEO of Aeropuertos Mexicanos (AME).
“We are confident that this new route from Calgary will be a great success, thanks to the strong demand this airport already has from the Canadian market. With this launch, Puerto Escondido further strengthens its international connectivity with Canada, opening new opportunities for travellers to discover its unique charm.”
The new service builds on an already strong year of expansion, with Guadalajara, Tepic (Riviera Nayarit) and Cozumel all joining the network from Calgary in 2025.
Also new this year, is non-stop service between Calgary and Mexico City year-round — a key move for both leisure and business markets.
