YYC Sees Record 19.4 Million Passengers in 2025

With 19.4 million passenger journeys in 2025, Calgary International Airport (YYC) recorded its fourth consecutive year of growth, surpassing its previous record of 18.9 million passengers set in 2024. The total represents an increase of more than 500,000 travellers over year, via connections to 108 destinations in 2025 that included 15 new routes.
The airport also experienced record summer volume. For the first time, more than two million passengers per month travelled through YYC in both July and August.
To support continued growth and enhance the passenger experience, Calgary Airports advanced several major infrastructure projects in 2025, including the completion of the West Runway Rehabilitation, the opening of Phase 1 of the Centralized Security Screening area, the announcement of the YYC AeroNex aviation hub, and the groundbreaking of a new engine maintenance facility in partnership with Lufthansa Technik.

“More travellers through YYC means more opportunity for our city and province – from tourism and trade to innovation and investment,” says Chris Dinsdale, Chief Executive Officer. “We’re proud of the work our teams and partners do every day to deliver safe, smooth and welcoming journeys, and we continue to invest in YYC to keep pace with the growth we’re seeing across Calgary and Alberta.”
The momentum is continuing into 2026: last month saw the announcement of two new international routes: Sao Paulo, Brazil, operated by WestJet, and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, operated by new airline partner Etihad Airways. Both routes are significant milestones for Alberta, representing the province’s first non-stop service to South America and the Middle East, respectively. Additionally, Air Canada is expanding service from YYC to sun destinations, with new flights to Cancun and Puerto Vallarta scheduled to begin in December.
