Scenic Group is finally adding a third Discovery Yacht to the Scenic fleet. Scenic Ikon is set to join the cruise line’s fleet in April 2028, and unlike Scenic Eclipse I and II is being purpose-built to sail in both polar regions and warm water destinations.

Scenic Ikon will be somewhat larger than both Scenic Eclipse I and II, measuring 26,500 gross tons (versus 17,085 gross tons), 672 feet long (versus 551 feet). It will hold up to 270 guests (versus 228) in 135 all-veranda suites ranging from 365 square feet to 2,691 square feet.

The vessel, which will be rated Polar Code 6 with an Ice Class 1A Super strengthened hull, will be equipped with two Airbus helicopters and a custom-designed Triton AVA submersible, along with a fleet of Zodiacs and Fassmer tenders.

Other highlights onboard Scenic Ikon will be 15 distinctive dining venues, an 18,298-square-foot, two-level Senses Rejuvenation Spa, and multiple lounges and social spaces.

“Scenic Ikon has been conceived, engineered, and built with our in-house shipbuilding division at MKM Yachts and will be operated entirely by our own dedicated Scenic crew. This remarkable vessel is the result of more than three years of passion, innovation, and development by our team, and we are delighted to share the Discovery Yacht with our valued guests, travel advisors, and partners,” said Glen Moroney, founder and chairman of Scenic Group.

“Every element of Scenic Ikon’s design has been optimized to deliver unrivaled experiences across diverse destinations and environments, from its primary base, the Mediterranean, to the wilds of Antarctica.”

Construction of Scenic Ikon is well underway, following a steel-cutting ceremony in February attended by Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, and the keel laying in May 2025. The Discovery Yacht is on schedule for delivery at the end of 2027, ahead of final testing and entry into service.

Maiden Season Details, Inaugural Voyage Sold Out

Scenic Ikon will embark on its inaugural voyage, which is already sold out, from Venice in April 2028. It will then sail a series of Mediterranean regional journeys, including visits to the Aegean and Egypt, followed by sailings to the Cape Verde Islands, Dakar, Antarctica, the Falkland Islands, and the Chilean fjords.

In total, the ship will visit 110 ports in 21 countries between April 2028 and March 2029, including 26 destinations that are new for Scenic.

A limited number of suites are available at pre-release prices. Clients taking advantage of the cruise line’s Pay in Full offers will enjoy a complimentary flight onboard one of the ship’s helicopters. On warm weather flights, helicopter landings might include stops at renowned gold courses, celebrated restaurants, or historic landmarks. These experiences are also included for Chairman’s Club members and for clients who book Penthouse and Owner’s Suites.
