Toronto native Beverly Cheng is the new Director, Canada for the Hong Kong Tourism Board.
With a career spanning arts and travel journalism, international hospitality communications, and cultural institution leadership – along with more than a decade living and working in Hong Kong — Cheng brings a global perspective and experience in storytelling, strategic marketing, and destination branding to the role.
She began her career in Hong Kong as an arts journalist, immersing herself in the city’s creative scene and witnessing its evolution into a thriving global arts hub.
Cheng later held senior communications roles with global hospitality brands, including Marriott International, where she led communications for a portfolio of 16 hotel brands across Asia Pacific. Most recently, she served as Head of Marketing, Communications and Visitor Experience at The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery in Toronto.
Deeply connected to Hong Kong both personally and professionally, Cheng says she is passionate about showcasing the city as a world-class destination for Canadian travellers.
“It is truly an honour to lead Hong Kong Tourism Board in Canada, a role that is deeply meaningful to me,” Cheng said. “As both a Torontonian and a Hongkonger, I am excited to help Canadians rediscover Hong Kong through its unique energy, culture, world-class dining, arts, and natural beauty.”
In her new role, Cheng, who is fluent in English, Cantonese, and French, will focus on strengthening partnerships and delivering compelling, insight-driven campaigns that inspire Canadians to experience Hong Kong through stories and moments that can only be found in the city.
