Hong Kong Airlines Relaunches YVR Route

Hong Kong Airlines Relaunches YVR Route

Hong Kong Airlines celebrates the return of its Vancouver route at YVR.

Hong Kong Airlines officially re-launched its direct flights to YVR on January 18, marking a major milestone for both the airline and its passengers. The airline says the return of the popular route signifies the airline’s commitment to expanding its global reach.

Celebrations were held at both Hong Kong International Airport and Vancouver International Airport where senior officials attended a ceremony at the boarding gate and interacted with the first flight’s passengers.

“We are delighted to reinstate the Vancouver service, offering passengers more flight choices,” said Hong Kong Airlines Chairman Yan Bo.

“Vancouver was Hong Kong Airlines’ first North American destination, which was first launched in June 2017, and has always been popular. Resuming this route not only marks our official return to the North American market but also demonstrates the progress of our strategic transformation from a regional to an international airline earlier this year and boosting our confidence in expanding our global route network coverage.”

Flight schedule is as follows (local times):

HKG – YVR:   Departs 22:10, arrives 18:10 on Tuesdays

Departs 23:50, arrives 19:50 on Saturdays

YVR – HKG:    Departs 01:50, arrives 07:01+ on Wednesdays and Sundays

The route is operated by Airbus A330-300 aircraft and features a specially created menu featuring a selection of Hong Kong-style in-flight meals and a variety of Chinese, Western and vegetarian options for all passengers.

“This reflects Hong Kong Airlines’ customer-centric service approach and commitment to serving passengers in North America and around the world,” said Hong Kong Airlines President Jeff Sun. “This also underscores our vision of becoming a leading full-service airline in the region and internationally.”

Hong Kong Airlines continues to expand operations and now serves over 30 destinations, demonstrating a strong post-COVID recovery. Flight numbers fully recovered to pre-pandemic levels last year, with an average passenger load of 80% and over 5 million passengers.
