Marriott International has signed an agreement with The Reef Resorts & Spa to convert three Mexico properties into all-inclusive resorts.

The resorts – all located in Playa del Carmen, Mexico – will join Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio Collection in 2027. Leading up to their official rebranding, they will undergo renovations beginning in late 2026.

Jorge Montalvo, president of the Board of Directors of The Reef Resorts & Spa, said the agreement marks “an exciting new chapter for The Reef Resorts & Spa.”

“For decades, we have welcomed travelers to Playa del Carmen with authentic hospitality and a strong connection to the destination,” he said. “By joining Tribute Portfolio Hotels portfolio under the all-inclusive concept, we will be able to preserve the unique identity of each resort while benefiting from Marriott’s global reach, its Marriott Bonvoy loyalty platform, and expertise in the all-inclusive segment.”

Alonso Burgos, vice president of development, Caribbean and Latin America, Marriott International, added that the agreement “underscores the continued strength of Mexico as a growth market for Marriott and highlights the value owners see in our all-inclusive platform.”

“Through these three distinctive resorts, travelers will discover bespoke experiences that reflect the unique character of the destination while benefiting from the global power of Marriott Bonvoy,” he added.

Ultimately, the conversion will add 676 rooms to Marriott’s all-inclusive portfolio, plus the capacity for events of up to 900 guests. This includes the 198-room The Reef Playacar Beachfront Resort & Spa, the 120-room The Reef 28 Adults-Only Luxury Hotel & Spa, and The Reef Coco Beachfront Resort & Spa, which will expand from 198 to 358 rooms by 2028.
