The Association of Canadian Travel Agencies and Travel Advisors (ACTA) is inviting members to apply for positions on several of its advisory committees for the 2027–2028 term.
Opportunities are available on ACTA’s Independent Travel Advisor (ITA) Committee, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility (DEIA) Committee and Regional Advisory Committees (RACs).
The two-year committee term will begin in January 2027, with applications open until Nov. 23, 2026. Committee selections will be made in December.
Bringing advisor voices to ACTA
In a press release, ACTA said its advisory committees give members an opportunity to bring their perspectives and industry expertise to the association’s work while helping shape initiatives affecting Canadian travel agencies and travel advisors.
The ITA Committee focuses specifically on the challenges and opportunities facing independent travel advisors.
Committee members collaborate on advocacy, education and professional development initiatives, with the goal of ensuring independent advisors are represented in ACTA’s priorities and programs.
The DEIA Committee, meanwhile, works to advance diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility within the travel industry.
Members contribute to initiatives aimed at increasing awareness, cultural competency and accessibility while helping incorporate DEIA principles throughout ACTA’s programs and activities.
Regional perspectives
ACTA’s Regional Advisory Committees provide another avenue for members to contribute, with a focus on issues affecting travel businesses in different parts of Canada.
The committees allow members to share regional perspectives and identify emerging issues, helping ACTA better understand and respond to the needs of travel agencies and advisors both regionally and nationally.
ACTA said committee membership also provides opportunities to network with travel professionals from across Canada, represent different agency and business models, mentor industry colleagues and provide input on issues affecting the profession.
The association is seeking representation from across the country and from a broad range of business models, experiences and perspectives.
ACTA said it especially encourages applications from members who can bring fresh perspectives and diverse viewpoints to committee discussions.
Two-year commitment
Members selected for the 2027–2028 term can expect approximately two virtual meetings per year, with additional meetings scheduled as required.
Committee members may also be asked to provide input or feedback on specific issues and developments affecting travel agencies and travel advisors.
Applicants can express interest in one or multiple committees and are asked to indicate their preferences when applying. Click here to apply.
Applications close Nov. 23, with selections taking place in December ahead of the new term beginning in January 2027.
An ACTA membership is required to serve on an advisory committee.
