TTAND Remembers Beloved Advisor Wayne Ashby

Beloved The Travel Agent Next Door advisor Wayne Ashby has passed away, Travel Market Report Canada has learned.

In an email sent to all advisors Thursday afternoon, TTAND remembered Ashby as someone who “didn’t just call us colleagues—he called us family. And that’s exactly how we’ll always remember him. He had a unique way of making people feel welcomed, appreciated, and seen. His joy, his humour, and his generous spirit left an imprint on everyone who knew him.

He wasn’t just a delight to be around—he was also incredibly gracious and sincere. Wayne truly valued being part of the TTAND family and never missed a chance to let us know.”

In this photo sent by Judith Coates, Wayne (far right) and friends enjoy dinner during the TTAND conference at Moon Palace, Jamaica.

Wayne Ashby joined The Travel Agent Next Door in 2018, the same year he started in the travel industry. He and his wife Kathie were owners of Ashby’s Travel Group based in Perth, Ontario.

“Wayne was a lovely person who always lit up a room and made you laugh,” said Spoiled Agent’s Susan Kooiman, who attended many TTAND conferences when she was with Transat. “I always enjoyed my time with him and Kathie at conference.”

TTAND said he “brought light, laughter and warmth wherever he went,” reminding advisors about the time he dressed up as Dame Edna for a theme night at conference and playfully danced the night away, his charm and infectious energy taking centre stage.

“He wasn’t just a delight to be around—he was also incredibly gracious and sincere. Wayne truly valued being part of the TTAND family and never missed a chance to let us know.

Wayne will be deeply missed by all and he will forever be a part of the TTAND family.”
