Planeterra Says 2024 Was a Year of ‘Deepening Impact’

The Planeterra Foundation supports the AFER Women’s Foundation Homlunch in Morocco.
Planeterra, the non-profit organization established in 2003 by G Adventures founder Bruce Poon Tip, has released its 2024 Impact Report, detailing the community tourism initiatives it supports around the world.
Described as the “world’s leading non-governmental organization turning travel into impact in communities,” Planeterra serves as G’s non-profit partner and focuses on supporting social and environmental initiatives through tourism.
“In 2024, we joined forces with local leaders, travel companies, and supporters like you to grow Community Tourism around the world,” Planeterra writes in a summary of the report. “The impact speaks for itself. 2024 was a year of deepening impact for Planeterra and our global network. We strengthened partnerships, scaled local solutions, and continued driving meaningful change through travel.”

A few Planeterra highlights from 2024:
- More than 30,000 people earned income through Planeterra-supported tourism and climate initiatives.
- Planeterra’s Global Community Tourism Network grew to include more than 550 organizations.
- Nearly 200,000 people experienced the positive ripple effects of Community Tourism, benefitting from strengthened local economies and community well-being.
- More than 130,000 travellers visited Community Tourism experiences.
- A planting program expanded to 2.65 million trees, supporting biodiversity and community-led conservation.
“Whether it’s creating jobs for women and youth, preserving traditional knowledge, or protecting nature, Community Tourism is helping shape more resilient and inclusive futures, led by the people who call these places home,” says Planeterra.
