Travel Industry Solutions (TIS) has announced that long-time Canadian travel industry leader Mike Foster has joined the company as Director of Strategic Partners and Shareholder.
Travel Industry Solutions (TIS) is a legal-tech and payments-risk platform built specifically for professional travel advisors and agencies.
As Director of Strategic Partners, Foster will focus on strengthening relationships with Canadian host agencies, consortia, suppliers, and other stakeholders, while supporting education and adoption of TIS solutions across the market.
Foster currently serves on the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) board and has previously held leadership roles with ACTA at both the provincial and national levels. He continues to advocate for consumer trust, operational excellence, and long-term stability within Canada’s travel sector.
“Canada’s travel industry has evolved significantly, and the expectations placed on advisors and agencies continue to rise,” said Sheila Folk, CEO and Founder of Travel Industry Solutions. “Mike brings an unmatched understanding of the Canadian advisory landscape and a clear view of where stronger operational foundations and protections are needed. His leadership will play a key role as we expand our presence across Canada.”
Based in London, Ontario, Foster brings more than 45 years of experience building, scaling, and mentoring travel agencies and advisor networks. He began his career in 1981 and went on to own and grow a UNIGLOBE agency into one of Canada’s largest, before that business became part of Nexion Travel Group. Foster later served as President of Nexion Travel Group–Canada through 2024.
Though retired from day-to-day operations, Foster remains active as an independent travel advisor, industry writer, consultant, and investor. He is widely known for practical, advisor-focused guidance on business strategy, client care, and the thoughtful application of technology and emerging tools to support sustainable growth.
“What Travel Industry Solutions is building directly addresses challenges Canadian travel professionals face every day,” said Foster. “Advisors are expected to operate with greater consistency, stronger documentation, and higher levels of professionalism, while managing increasing complexity and cost pressures. TIS provides practical tools that help raise standards, strengthen protection, and create efficiencies across the industry. I’m pleased to support the company’s growth in Canada.”
