MSC Cruises Plans Enhancements for Ocean Cay with New Guest Experiences, Extended Pier

MSC Cruises is planning a series of upgrades for Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve including new facilities to enhance the guest experience and an extended pier to allow two ships to call on the destination simultaneously. The upgrades are scheduled to be completed in late 2027.

Among the new additions will be restaurants and bars, a dedicated adults-only beach, a fully-equipped family lagoon, and more cabanas available to rent.

Four new dining experiences will be added – bringing the total number of dining venues to seven. Among the new options will be a signature specialty restaurant.

For cruisers who don’t want to share their space with kids, the adults-only Paradise Sands will be a new beach experience that offers a more tranquil atmosphere.

The current Seakers Cover will receive an upgrade with a range of new experiences including a kid’s playground, a splashpad, and ropes course with water elements. The area will also feature ping-pong and foosball. The dedicated family beach will also offer different activations such as tournaments and interactive games.

MS Cruises will also debut a new marine conservation experience. The “Shifting Perspective” offer will invite guests to explore marine conservation through immersive, hands-on experiences, from coral restoration and scientific discovery to interactive exploration of ocean ecosystems.

Work also continues on the developments of a second private island destination adjacent to Ocean Cay. This as-yet-unnamed island, known internally as Little Cay, will stay true to the ethos of Ocean Cay, offering an experience that connects guests to nature, pristine beaches, and the beauty of the ocean plus luxury facilities and water features.

Ocean Cay opened in 2019. Reflecting the company’s commitment to marine conservation, the cruise line transformed the former industrial site into a beautiful private island destination with two miles of white sand beach front spread across eight beaches.
