Nearly 88% of foreign tourists said their travel experience during the recently completed 2016 Olympic Games will lead them to visit Brazil again, according to a survey by the Brazil Ministry of Tourism.

The research, representing responses from 1,261 foreign tourists at Brazilian airports from August 6-16, showed that Americans (21.2%) represented the largest percentage of inbound tourists during the games, followed by visitors from Argentina (14.8%) and the United Kingdom (4.8%).

Overall visitor satisfaction was 83.1%, with local hospitality driving a large portion of that goodwill. According to the survey, 98.6% of foreign visitors rated local hospitality highly, followed by Rio’s night-life (93.6% satisfaction).

The average international tourist spent 11.7 days in Brazil, and spent $103.70 per day, according to the research, carried out by the Institute of Economic Research Foundation (FIPE).

Brazilian airports were rated satisfactorily by 94.6% of foreign tourists, including security at 88.4%. Prices at or around the competition venues received the lowest scores in the survey, with a 42.4% negative review by foreigners.
