Same-Sex Marriage Legalized in Ireland
As of Monday, same-sex marriage was recognized and is legal in Ireland.
While Ireland has a complex marriage system that requires three months’ notice, same-sex couples can take advantage of a five-day fast-track provision, so the first couples will tie the knot this week.
Ireland passed a marriage equality bill by popular vote in May, marking the first time gay marriages were legalized by referendum.
