Hawai’i Tourism Authority to Close Canadian Office Operated by VoX

by Bruce Parkinson  July 07, 2026
Hawai’i Tourism Authority to Close Canadian Office Operated by VoX

The VoX team at the inaugural Canadian Travel Awards.

For the past 11 years, VoX has represented the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority (HTA) in Canada, the popular destination’s #2 international market. For now at least, that relationship has come to an end.

In a message to travel advisors VoX wrote: “Mahalo (Thank You) for everything. We have sincerely appreciated your support and collaboration over the past 11 years as VoX has represented the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority (HTA) in Canada. Unfortunately for now, VoX won’t be continuing.”

Canadians represent Hawaii’s second-largest international market.

The VoX statement continued: “This is purely a budget decision the HTA has made. The intention is to let a U.S.-based team handle Canada, although no definitive decisions have been made. Understanding that changes and budget adjustments happen, we can’t help but be sad about what is being lost and its potential impact on Hawaiʻi’s position as a top destination for Canadian visits.”

The notes to advisors, signed by “Susan Webb, Colin Wood and Samantha Carreira and the team,” expressed gratitude for the support of Canadian advisors.

“As Hawaiʻi’s #2 international market, we’re very proud of what we’ve accomplished, and we couldn’t have done it without you.”

The move comes as political tensions continue to negatively impact Canadian travel to U.S. destinations.
