Labor Dispute Temporarily Closes Brussels Airport

Just weeks after it reopened following last month’s terrorist attacks, Brussels Airport closed again, this time because of industrial action by Belgian air traffic controllers.

According to the airport’s website, “no air traffic control [was] possible” for at least an hour on Tuesday because of a strike by air traffic controllers over pension reforms.

The airport did announce later that limited flights were resuming. Travelers can check flight statuses and other updates on the airport’s website. 

The airport was already operating at limited capacity after two suicide bombs exploded in its check-in area.
