Marriott International on Monday announced new plans to bring its W Hotels Worldwide brand to Florence, Italy.

W Florence, the first W Hotels property in the city, is expected to open in 2023, with 120 guestrooms, including 20 suites, located just steps away from Via de-Tornabuoni.

Candice D’Cruz, the vice president of luxury brands for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at Marriott, said that the aim with the new property is to add “its distinct take on modern, social luxury to the city’s hospitality scene.”

Outside of guest accommodations, W Florence will welcome guests to W Lounge and Living Room on the ground floor, a bar, and a lounge that serves as a gathering spot for guests. W Florence will blend its Living Room around a central partially covered courtyard.

The property will join 13 other W brand hotels currently in operations across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and will join W Rome, the debut W branded hotel in Italy, which is set to open this fall. Overall, W Hotels operates nearly 60 hotels worldwide.
