Omni Amelia Island Resort & Spa just unveiled a major, more than $40 million transformation that gives guests a stronger sense of place while elevating their experience.
The oceanfront property, located just northeast of Jacksonville, Florida, now has completely reimagined 401 guestrooms and suites, signature restaurants, spa and wellness facilities, public and events spaces, and golf amenities. Tying it all together is locally inspired design and artwork throughout the entire resort.
“With this renovation, we set out to create something truly special: a resort that reflects the spirit of Amelia Island in every detail,” said Theo Schofield, Area Managing Director at Omni Amelia Island Resort & Spa. “From the moment guests arrive, they’ll experience spaces inspired by the island’s landscapes, culture and sense of hospitality.”
The hotel’s lobby lounge has been updated with warm wood tones to celebrate the island’s live oak canopies. Guestrooms and suites now have layered textures and coastal-inspired design that reflect the island’s landscapes. These design elements carry into The Spa at Omni Amelia Island, which was fully reimagined with 19 treatment rooms, relaxation rooms, food and beverage offerings, and a new private outdoor courtyard.
“We wanted guests to feel an immediate connection to Amelia Island from the moment they arrive,” said Tonya Grine, vice president of interior design at Omni Hotels & Resorts. “Every design decision was guided by the island’s rich heritage, natural beauty, coastal character and Southern charm. Our hope is that our guests experience it all while gathering ‘under the canopy’ of the iconic live oaks draped in Spanish moss that are so quintessential to Amelia Island.”
The reimagined resort debuts a new family-friendly short course and putting golf course, Little Sandy, and a refurbished Oak Marsh golf course.
There are also several new dining concepts, including Nonna Mia, the coastal Italian restaurant formerly known as Verandah; Surfcaster, the oceanfront seafood restaurant previously known as Oceanside; and the brand-new Palmetto Press Coffee & Provisions. Enhancements were also made to the breakfast spot, FloraBelle.
