Active travel specialist Backroads has unveiled 10 new itineraries for its 2027 collection of women-only adventures.

Backroads Women’s Adventures is a collection of active luxury itineraries, designed exclusively for female travelers. These trips combine physical activities like walking and hiking with local culinary experiences, guided tours of cultural attractions, and comfortable accommodations.

The tour operator introduced its women-only travel style, Backroads Women’s Adventures, in 2024. Since launch, the segment has grown 170%, and now includes over 70 itineraries in 32 countries. According to Backroads chief experience officer, Avery Hale Smith, the communal spirit that develops among the groups is a key feature of the itineraries, and many guests have booked repeat Backroads tours with women they met on previous tours.

Travel advisors booking active travel can choose from new women-only itineraries like the Tour du Mont Blanc Hiking, Bordeaux & Dordogne Active Culinary Hiking & Walking, and Switzerland Lodge‑to‑Lodge Hiking.

“We’ve been blown away by the positive feedback we’ve received about our Women’s Adventures,” said Backroads founder, president and CEO Tom Hale. “And as the father of two adult daughters, I know how special it is for them to travel with other women. We know these trips are about more than the destinations; they’re about shared experiences.”
