Collette Commits to Advanced Commission for Travel Advisors

Collette will begin to offer advanced commission payments to travel advisors in the U.S. and Canada, the tour operator announced on Wednesday.

Upon deposit, Collette will pay a portion of the full commission amount based on type of booking. The new Advanced Commission Program will offer three flat-rate options: $100 per booking for land-only bookings; $125 per booking for land and air bookings; and 200 per booking for any booking that includes Collette’s Travel Protection Plan.

Collette also announced it will not recall the advanced commission payments if the client cancels. The Advanced Commission Program will run from Sept. 9, 2020 until Dec. 31, 2021, and will be applicable for all departures from May 1, 2021 and beyond. This means that travel advisors will be able to earn advanced commission on all tours in their newly released 2021-2022 Worldwide Travel Guide and the much-anticipated Oberammergau 2022 tours.

Advanced commission payments valid on new retail bookings only, and are not applicable for group bookings. Commission advancement amount will be deducted from remaining commissions due following travel.

Commission payments, many recalled lately because of trips cancelled due to COVID-19, have become a heavy topic of discussion for the travel advisor community. During the COVID-19 slowdown, some suppliers, including Intrepid, Seabourn, and others, have committed to paying advisors commission when a client either books or submits final payment to the supplier.

Collette, with this move, joins that group of suppliers moving towards partner-focused policies that could help some advisors and agencies navigate 2020.

Nicole Mazza, Chief Marketing Officer at TRAVELSAVERS, said in a statement that “TRAVELSAVERS is grateful to Collette for their ongoing commitment to the travel advisor community. As an industry, we are at a crucial intersection, and it will take strong leadership and decisions like this to ensure our advisors thrive again.”
