EF Go Ahead Tours has partnered with the von Trapp Family Lodge & Resort in Stowe, Vermont, which will launch in summer 2026—just in time for America’s 250th anniversary.
The von Trapp Family Lodge & Resort is a family-owned alpine-style property located on 2,600 acres in Vermont’s Green Mountains. The resort was founded by the famed von Trapp family of singers, who inspired The Sound of Music. The 4-star resort operates year-round activities such as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, backcountry skiing, hiking, mountain biking, tennis, and yoga.
EF Go Ahead Tours has launched a new tour within its North America portfolio that features a stay at the Stowe property. “Canada to New England – Quebec, Vermont (with a special stay at the von Trapp Family Lodge & Resort) & Boston” is an 11-day tour that explores the French and English history in cities like Quebec City, Montreal, Stowe, and Boston—a significant location for American Revolution history.
As part of the partnership, EF Go Ahead Tours has also announced a 2027 Austria trip that will be hosted by Kristina von Trapp Frame, a third-generation member of the famed family. “A Week in Austria with Kristina von Trapp Frame: Vienna, Salzburg, and the Alps” is a nine-day tour in which the granddaughter of Captain Georg and Maria von Trapp retells the story of her family’s escape from Nazi Germany. Travelers will see the real landscapes that inspired The Sound of Music, while learning about Austria’s rich history and seeing its delightful towns.
“Growing up in Stowe at the von Trapp Family Lodge & Resort gave me a uniquely immersive upbringing, eventually playing and working on the land my grandparents built into a beloved destination,” said Kristina von Trapp Frame. “We like to say our resort is a little of Austria, a lot of Vermont.”
EF Go Ahead Tours is expanding its North America Collection in response to growing demand. According to a Qualtrics Research survey conducted this month, 64% of American travelers expressed interest in domestic travel in America in the next 12 to 24 months.
“As travelers across the United States and Canada seek meaningful connections and experiences, EF Go Ahead Tours is honored to partner with the von Trapp Family Lodge & Resort and Kristina von Trapp Frame. Theirs is an extraordinary immigrant story—one that traveled from Austria to Vermont, and that speaks to exactly what makes America 250 such a significant moment,” said Heidi Durflinger, CEO of EF World Journeys USA, operator of EF Go Ahead Tours. “This summer, we’re seeing unprecedented interest in travel across the U.S., Canada, and Europe, and these two von Trapp family tours—connecting a family’s story from Austria to New England—offer the kind of deeply personal experience that stays with you for a lifetime.”
