Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated film The Odyssey landed in theaters on July 17, 2026, and already, several tour operators have jumped on the movie-lover set-jetting trend and created specialized itineraries inspired by the film.
The critically acclaimed film was written, directed, and co-produced by the modern-day auteur, and translates the story of Homer’s ancient Greek poem of the same name. Homer’s Odyssey tells the story of the heroic king of Ithaca, Odysseus (Ulysses in Latin), whose homecoming journey from Troy to Ithaca is prolonged to a 10-year adventure, filled with peril and fantastic encounters with creatures like sirens and even a cyclops.
While today’s travelers will not face the same challenges while traversing the Mediterranean Sea, several tour operators have stepped up to provide adventurers with the opportunity to follow Odysseus’ footsteps. Greece continues to be a popular tourism destination, and already, the industry is seeing a boost in interest thanks to the film: Unforgettable Greece’s bookings are up by almost 10%, and a recent study from EF Go Ahead Tours found that 61% of travelers are very or somewhat interested in The Odyssey, and 81% are willing to visit Greece in connection with the film.
With that in mind, these are all the special itineraries inspired by the summer blockbuster that have been announced (so far).
Audley Travel: “Inspired by The Odyssey: an epic journey across Italy & Greece”

Audley Travel, a bespoke tour operator, has unveiled a new itinerary themed to the new film: “Inspired by The Odyssey: an epic journey across Italy & Greece.” The 13-day tailormade journey was designed by Audley’s Italy and Greece specialists, and takes travelers from Palermo to Corfu.
Guests can look forward to immersive experiences such as distinctive volcanic wine tasting, guided tours of ancient cities and ruins, and kayaking from Nafplio to hidden coves and the submerged remains of a Roman villa.
“The enduring appeal of The Odyssey lies in its sense of adventure and discovery,” said Anna Scrivens, regional product manager for EMEA at Audley Travel. “This itinerary allows travelers to experience destinations that have long been linked with the epic poem, combining ancient sites, mythology and local culture in a way that brings the story vividly to life. Whether travelers are inspired by Homer’s original text or the new film adaptation, we want to give them a fascinating way to explore the Mediterranean with plenty of opportunities to enjoy the local food and traditions.”
