Intrepid Travel continues to expand its bespoke division with the hiring of Richard Wise as the new general manager of Tailor-Made.
Wise, who is based in London, will be responsible for scaling the company’s Tailor-Made segment that caters to immersive, experiential travelers looking for a personal experience. It is a newly created role for Intrepid. He will report directly to Intrepid CEO James Thornton.
Wise most recently served as head of global travel for Audley Travel, also in the U.K., and prior to his 13 years at Audley spent time in banking.
The Tailor-Made segment is growing for Intrepid; the company says that Tailor-Made bookings are up 19% year-over-year. The pitch for travelers is that Intrepid will build a personal, specific trip around their tastes using Intrepid’s knowledge and connections across the world. It is Intrepid’s way of offering its flavor of FITs for its groups. The tagline for the segment is “Explore the world, your way.”
“Tailor-Made represents a powerful opportunity to connect more deeply with our customers and deliver travel experiences that are as unique as they are impactful. I look forward to working with our global teams to deliver market-leading experiential travel that travelers are seeking,” Wise said in the announcement.
